The first virtual nature reserve... Wild at Home launches 9/21

360° Immersive Videos by Wild Immersion on EarthXR.org Bring the Beauty of Africa, the Amazon, and Asia to Your Device

EarthXR, the interactive arm of EarthxFilm, is partnering with Wild Immersion, endorsed by Jane Goodall, for the launch of Wild at Home September 21 to kickoff Climate Week. Wild at Home, the first virtual nature reserve, will include a selection of 360° immersive videos that help viewers explore Africa, the Amazon, and Asia from their smartphone, tablet, or VR headset without ever leaving home.

“We’re delighted to partner with Wild Immersion endorsed by Jane Goodall to present Wild at Home,” said Tiffany Kieran, director of XR Programming + Partnerships for EarthXR. “Wild Immersion has harnessed emerging technologies to inspire wonder through stunning encounters with wildlife in their natural habitats for viewers at home or in the classroom, helping to deepen our connection with both ourselves and nature, and expanding our empathy and passion to protect living creatures.”

Wild at Home is both entertaining and ideal for virtual learning curriculum, and will debut with  two-part experiences of:

Africa – bringing the African savannah to the viewer with close up views of flamingos, zebras, and more of Africa’s most iconic species, including a journey with a herd of elephants and time with a tower of grazing giraffes.

Asia – taking viewers on an unforgettable journey through the varied landscapes and climates of the Eastern world, including a welcome by a family of Sri Lankan animal friends and a jump to Australia to meet koalas, seals, and other endearing wildlife.

Amazon – diving into the heart of the Amazon rainforests to explore the rich diversity of animal species from sloths to jaguars, experience lush landscapes and learn about the threats the inhabitants of the rainforests face.

“While the world is asked to stay home to protect humanity, animals are still in a very endangered state,” said Grégoire Moisson, chief executive officer of Wild Immersion. “Our urgency, next to that of our own safety, is to protect biodiversity, which is both a tremendous gift from our Mother Earth and an important component of our global life cycle. Wild at Home proposes to educate audiences in the safety of their homes on the threats that our animals and their habitats face, so everyone can become part of a global solution to preserve our life on earth.”

Wild at Home experiences will be available beginning Monday, September 21, in time for educators to incorporate the programming into environmental lessons for Climate Week. Experiences can be viewed on any device using the following directions:

  • Go to EarthXR.org/WildatHome to start the experience.
  • Click on the videos to start the show.
  • If using an iOS telephone or tablet, activate the « gyroscope » when prompted. The device will guide the user through the two-step process allowing the movies to be seen in 360°.
  • Move the phone/tablet all around to discover the wild like never before.
  • If on a PC, the video will follow the mouse after the user clicks on the movie.
  • Follow EarthX and EarthxFilm social media and newsletters for additional media elements.

“We initially planned to unveil the North American debut of Wild Immersion’s virtual wildlife reserves at our year-round immersive experiential installation in Dallas along with EarthX’s 50th anniversary celebration of Earth Day, but COVID had different plans for all of us,” added Kieran. “Until we can be together again, we’re thrilled that we could find a way to still offer these fascinating views and impactful messages about the importance of caring for nature through Wild at Home.”

Policy | Natural Policy is an engaging talk show to explore our planet from all sides, with various viewpoints being discussed and debated on the environment’s most important issues. “Fifty years ago, the first Earth Day took place because Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin was troubled by the lack of attention being paid to environmental issues,” said Trammell S. Crow, Founder of EarthX. “Earthx2020 will pay homage to the half century of planetary advocacy that followed and leverage the power that hundreds of thousands of people coming together can bring to championing a better planet for future generations.”

Planet911 provides youth with a platform for collaboration and sharing their voice. Together, EarthX and Planet911 encourage student filmmakers to be creative through film, music, spoken word, dance or whatever form of creative expression they choose, by offering them a global platform and the chance to shine on a public stage.

Winning filmmakers will be also be offered travel and accommodation to join 250 youth leaders from around the globe to participate in the March For Science Youth Summit at Earthx2020. The top 25 films will screen at EarthxFilm April 17 through 26 in Dallas, and filmmakers will be recognized at an Awards Ceremony, and have the rare opportunity to see THE WAY OF THE RAIN – HOPE FOR EARTH with Sibylle Szaggars Redford and Robert Redford. Prizewinners will be determined by a combination of online votes in combination with ballots cast by a guest jury made up of industry experts and media professionals.

"This is the most ambitious competition to-date with its goal of reaching 20 million views and garnering more than 500 films to share on our social platforms, while also screening as many films as possible at Earthx2020," said Emily Hargrove, co-founder of Planet911/EarthxFilm. "This is about amplifying the voices of youth from around the globe and changing behavior for the health of our planet."

In 2019, EarthxFilm partnered with Creative Visions to launch Planet911 offering a much-needed creative connection point for youth action related to climate change. Aligning the EarthxFilm Youth Film Competition with Planet911 leveraged this alliance and made EarthxFilm's bi-annual Youth Film Competition a global movement in 2019 with participation from youth across the planet.

Sponsored by Smurfit Kappa, Studio Movie Grill and PatentDive, winners came from as diverse locations as KenyaAfrica, including the Winner of the Most Motivated Award. The $1000 award, given to the school or organization with the most entries, was awarded to The Tonebee Organization, a non-profit that supports a small village in rural Kenya by educating girls and boys who otherwise would not have a chance to attend high school or university.

"Several of the youth who won cash awards for their films in the 2019 competition are planning to donate 10% of their prize money to plant trees in their village and help protect our planet," added Melanie Yonks, Director of Education for EarthxFilm. "It's beyond exciting to know our work makes a difference and can have a real impact on youth, their community, and our shared home – planet Earth. We can't wait to see the inspiration the Planet911 Challenge delivers."

EarthX was honored with the Championship of Freedom Award by the North Texas Coalition Against Human Trafficking (NTCAHT) for its work through EarthxFilm in support of Dallas CASA, a member of the NTCAHT, as well as its membership work for the organization.

The NTCAHT brings partner agencies from across North Texas together to take a united stand against human trafficking, while EarthxFilm uses the power of film and emerging media to raise awareness of environmental and social global issues. The Championship of Freedom Award was presented at NTCAHT’s January 30 event launching its anti-trafficking curriculum as well as ‘I Stopped Counting’, a short film about a trafficking survivor produced and directed by Tiffany Kieran and Quan Tran, and made possible through a grant from EarthxFilm partner Good Pitch.

“Through EarthxFilm, we call attention to environmental issues and their many effects such as social injustice and human trafficking,” said Tony Keane, chief executive officer of EarthX. “We’re honored to receive this recognition from the North Texas Coalition Against Human Trafficking, which also validates our belief that the power of storytelling has an eminent position in driving change.”

The NTCAHT is a group of nonprofits, local and federal law enforcement, faith leaders, and social service providers committed to rescuing and serving trafficked persons. EarthxSustainableU Explores Efficiency in High Performance Buildings

Free Event at Richland College Continues Series of Learning Events from

EarthX and the Dallas County Community College District

EarthxSustainableU will present “Efficiency is the Master Key to High Performance Buildings”, another free event offered through the collaboration of EarthX with the Dallas County Community College District. As North Texas continues to grow, and more people need places to live, work, play, shop, and eat, new and existing buildings will need to perform at a high level to provide healthy environments, energy efficiency, equity, and resiliency. Some of the brightest minds in the industry will gather to discuss and share how to save money and energy though building efficiency.

“EarthxSustainableU is teaching practical solutions and ideas that everyone can consider and implement,” said Georgeann Moss, Executive Administrator, Sustainability Outreach & Initiatives for DCCCD. “DCCCD houses a trove of students, teachers, community leaders, influencers, and activists who we want to first teach about sustainability, and secondly inspire to action.”
