Big Kisses for the opening of Rock & Brews in The Colony

If you’re too young to remember that 80s rock ‘n roll band Kiss you’re in luck because two of the four members are now making a comeback on the “rock” scene with a memorable project called Rock & Brews.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of the band Kiss were in town earlier this week to celebrate the grand opening of the first Rock and Brews restaurant in the area, which they opened in The Colony.

“Rock & Brews is so much more than a restaurant, it is a lifestyle,” says Stanley one of the co-owners along with band mate Gene Simmons. “It is great food and craft beer served in a family-friendly atmosphere by a great staff in an atmosphere that pays tribute to classic rock.”

Stanley also emphasizes the indoor/outdoor dining and the fact that the restaurant is pet friendly.

And by all accounts the food isn’t just a cookie cutter menu either.

“The menu was developed to appeal to a wide variety of tastes, so there is something for everyone,” Stanley says. “The burgers, salads and fish tacos are great, as well as our barbecue. Our team is always developing and testing new items to add to the menu.”

Simmons has his own list of favorites “You have to try the beignets, the Purple Rain Drops. Our burgers are Godzilla-sized and delicious, and we even have gluten-free pizzas.”

And even though, as Simmons points out, “It’s not a KISS restaurant,” he says the place has a good vibe “it’s a rock restaurant, with awesome food and music.”

The idea for Rock & Brews was formed when Stanley explains “I have always believed that the best successes come from addressing your own needs.  As I had children and my family grew, I saw that to have a lunch or dinner with my children meant being served cardboard pizza or macaroni and cheese, often served by somebody dressed like a giant rat. Here is a way to not compromise your time with your children and equally not compromise your palate.”

Rock & Brews also incorporates local produce into the mix and the guys are committed to giving back to local charities as well as local military and vets.

Texas was a natural progression of perfect locations since Stanley says “We’ve been looking to open a Rock & Brews in the Dallas area for quite some time now. When the opportunity arose to open in The Colony, we wanted to take advantage of the growing population in that area and thought that the time was right to introduce our restaurant.”

Simmons says, after all, “We have a great history in Texas, we’ve had wonderful tours here over the years and the opportunity in The Colony was too good to pass up.”

Rock & Brews features the brand’s signature quality American comfort food with two full bars and a large selection of international and craft beers. Rock music videos and sporting events are flashed on multiple flat screen televisions and artwork created by local artists features some of the greatest icons of the genre. The restaurant also features late night live music Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

As for the name, Rock & Brews, Stanley explains that the co-founding partners, Simmons, Dave and Dell Furano, Michael Zislis and himself were enjoying a round of beers backstage after one of their concerts and Dave looked around and said, “What’s better than rock and brews?” and so the concept was born.

Rock & Brews was founded in 2012 and Dallas is the 15th Rock & Brews.

“This world tour continues at breakneck speed,” Stanley concludes. “Once you come to Rock & Brews you will be coming back.”
