Not a Craft Brew Fan yet, head to Grapevine’s Craft Brew Experience

Step on up and fill your mug at the 32nd Annual Main Street Fest Craft Brew Experience to be held in Grapevine beginning May 20, 2016.

Even better, the Craft Brew Experience just happens to coincide with the American Craft Beer Week, as well as the celebration of the Bavarian Beer Purity Law of 1516, enacted by Duke Wilhelm IV, and the oldest law governing food and beverage.

“This year is the 500th anniversary of the Bavarian Beer Purity Law,” says Leigh Lyons, Director of Communications for the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau. “In celebration of this anniversary, we’re welcoming Duke Wilhelm to Main Street Fest as our special guest. He will be participating in a variety of special cask tappings and events throughout the festival.”

In fact, one of those tappings will feature a special 500th Jubilee Brew from Brewery Herrnbraeu in Ingolstadt, Germany.

Lyons says in 2015 more than 154,000 guests attended Main Street Fest and it’s likely that as many or more will descend on the event this year.

Actually, folks may have already began celebrating at one of a number of pre-festival Craft Brew Dinners and Brewery Tours, which is going on now until the festival begins.

“These unique [pre-festival] events will be led by brewmasters, brewery representatives and chefs, and will feature food designed to specifically enhance the craft brew experience,” Lyons says. “At the festival, there will be more than 75 varieties of craft brews available, ticket holders are encouraged to vote for their favorites among the 15 states represented in the State Brew Challenge.” .

She says that thousands of volunteers and community partners play an important part in the success of the festival too.

“These volunteers and partners, along with sponsors, elected officials and Grapevine city staff, create the welcoming and exciting atmosphere that our guests enjoy each year at Main Street Fest,” Lyons adds.

In addition to the Craft Brew Experience, there will also be live music on multiple stages throughout Main Street Fest with some of the confirmed groups including The Romantics as well as singer Rodney Crowell. Also returning this year is the 3rd Annual DFW ICON vocal competition, presented by JG Entertainment. DFW ICON will open the microphone to talented singers between the ages of seven and 24 years old and the winner’s packages exceed $20,000 in prizes including recording, branding, photo shoots, image consulting and more.

Overall, Main Street Fest is three days of family-friendly festival fun for all ages with a KidZone, a Discovery Center Junior Builder Competition as well as Carnival games, Midway rides and food will be available all weekend long.

“Main Street Fest is the perfect way to enjoy three days of family-friendly festival fun,” Lyons concludes. “Guests will have a wonderful time enjoying the Craft Brew Experience and, of course, one of the most fun elements of this year’s event will be meeting Duke Wilhelm IV from Ingolstadt, Germany in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Bavarian Beer Purity Act.”
