Recipe: Rainy Day Steaks by Matt

Recipe submitted by Matt Cobb

With football season underway, are you tired of munching on the same ol' buffalo wings and nachos while watching your team play?

Here’s a unique spin on how to prepare some tender, juicy steaks, and you can do it all from the comfort of inside your climate-controlled home without having to fire up the grill.

-----

What you’ll need:

  • Skillet (preferably grated)
  • Pyrex baking dish
  • Tin foil
  • Your favorite steak marinade
  • 1.5- to 2-inch thick steaks (Ribeyes and New York Strips work great!)

Instructions:

To avoid drying out your steaks while they’re in the oven, make sure to let them marinate beforehand for at least 20 minutes, using your favorite homemade or store-bought marinade. (The Dale’s Seasoning brand of marinade is really good.)

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Put the skillet on the stove, turn the burner on maximum and wait until the skillet gets extremely hot. Place your steaks on the skillet, sear one side of them for about 50-55 seconds, and then flip the steaks over and sear the other side of them for the same amount of time.

After the steaks have been seared, place them in the Pyrex baking dish, cover the dish with tinfoil and put it into the oven. Let the steaks cook for 12-18 minutes, depending on how pink you want them to be.
