A team from Park Place Motorcars Arlington helped Park Place Dealerships during their 10-week Habitat for Humanity build for the Salmeron family’s home in Dallas.
“When I walk through the house today, I see where my sons’ bedrooms will be,” said Wilber Salmeron, the future homeowner, during week six of the build. “Our kitchen and living room are taking shape. My wife, Rosemary, and I are so thankful to Park Place and Habitat for Humanity.”
Over the past month, Park Place members have seen the home transform from a blank slab to raising the first walls, adding the roof trusses, building interior walls and installing exterior siding to create a home for Rosemary and Wilber Salmeron and their two sons.
“On our workday, the weather was wet and cold,” said Amanda Brooks, a title manager in the Park Place corporate office. “So, they switched us inside to the Dallas Area Habitat warehouse, where we built walls that will eventually be put into place.”
The build will be completed in early 2021 and will incorporate 160 volunteers from Park Place Dealerships, who will contribute approximately 1,000 hours on the construction of the home. The participating members are quick to point out they’re getting more out of volunteering than they put in.
Jarvis Coleman, service technician at Park Place Motorcars Dallas, said, “It’s been a rewarding endeavor to give back and help in the community. I’m glad I had the opportunity to do it.”
Members from Park Place Motorcars Arlington, Motorcars Dallas, Motorcars Fort Worth, Bodywerks Fort Worth, Jaguar Land Rover, Park Place Corporate Office, Park Place Auto Auction, Porsche Dallas, Park Place Volvo, Bodywerks Dallas, Lexus Plano and Lexus Grapevine have staggered volunteer days to serve at the Habitat home.
Ricky Ramirez, sales experience manager at Porsche Dallas, said, “It feels great to assist a family in owning their first home. Like Park Place is our place, this home will be their place.”
Shannon Kennedy, Park Place Dealerships accounts receivables, echoed the sentiment, “It’s awesome to help someone fulfill their dream of owning a home!”
