Light Farms Adds Co-op Food Stand for DFW Residents to Enjoy

Due to the success of its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, which began earlier this year at local area Light Farms of Celina, the Farm is now going one step further and implementing an even bigger and better offering for Dallas residents with the addition of a Food Co-Op program with weekly vendor participation.

Every Saturday morning, The Farm Stand at Light Farms will be open to the public and offering fresh, natural food and products in a convenient and consistent manner. This means access to fresh and seasonal organic produce, meats and products. According to a Republic Property Group spokesperson, the premier master–planned community “MPC” developer responsible for the development of Celina’s Light Farms, this affords Dallas residents the chance to not only come out and buy locally grown, freshly-picked organic produce, but also a chance to get involved in a bigger program with the Farm Stand at Light Farms offering a convenient pick-up location for the Co-Op program.

“People can pick up their share every Saturday from The Farm Stand at Light Farms,” says the spokesperson. “The Food Co-Op program is similar to the CSA program in which natural food items are purchased and prepaid online and provided by Cartermere Farms of Celina, Texas, or R.O.C.K. Co-Op of Hurst, Texas.”

The Farm Stands hours are Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon and food share participants can choose different product amounts for their weekly shares with memberships ranging from four to 52 weeks.

Open to residents everywhere, those who wish to visit Light Farms for more than just a casual market day will definitely want to sign up for either the Cartermere Farms or R.O.C.K Co-Op programs, which also requires pre-pay and purchase of the products online before pick-up.

In addition to the participating vendors: Cartermere Farms, a small organic farm located in Celina, Texas, who sell non-GMO pastured eggs, organically grown produce, freshly ground grains, pecans, pasture-raised lamb, and homemade jams every Saturday; and R.O.C.K Co-Op, a natural food co-op operating out of Hurst, Texas, who sell all-natural skin care and beauty products, grass-fed and pasture-raised meat, cow and goat’s milk, yogurt, cheese, baked goods, kombucha, and jams. There will also be the chance to purchase items at the Farm Stand from Earthwise Gardens, a small, natural foods market in Denton, Texas, selling locally produced grass-fed beef, pasture-raised chicken and pork, milk, eggs, cheese, spices, granola, olive oil, and coffee.

Farm Stand vendors are determined appropriate through an on-site resident holistic nutritionist and future hopes are to expand the Food Co-Op to include fresh baked goods, cold-pressed juices and fresh cut flowers.

Light Farms is a 1,070-acre master-planned community in Celina with the community featuring amenities such as resort-style pools, state-of-the-art fitness center, tennis courts, bike-sharing program and 132 acres of manicured green space and a central community lawn for events.

Not just benefitting Celina residents when it comes to fresh food, the Republic Property Group spokesperson concludes, “This will benefit Dallas residents by giving them access to fresh and seasonal organic produce, meats and other natural products. People can be assured that everything they buy is seasonal and fresh and can feel good knowing where their food is coming from and knowing it is fresh and organic.”
