Dr. Jerry McCoy began his artistic leadership of Schola Cantorum of Texas/Fort Worth Chorale in 2008. Our 2018-2019 season-closing concerts celebrate his 40-year choral conducting career and his 11 years as Artistic Director/Conductor of Schola's Fort Worth Chorale. In so doing, we will sing performances of some of his favorite sacred music, including J.S. Bach's motet Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden; Spanish Renaissance composer Cristobal de Morales' Parce mihi, Dominum (in a new setting for choir and ad lib soprano saxophone), Joseph Rheinberger's Cantus Missae for double mixed choir (joined by the UTA A cappella Choir), British composer Tarik O'Regan's Triptych for nine strings and chorus, and the southwestern premier of Sennacherib by Oscar winning composer JAC Redford.
And, following their February performance for TMEA, the UTA A Cappella Choir will also sing a solo showcase portion of our concert.
