Alliance For Children Releases Annual Numbers of Children Served

2,434 children and siblings received help in 2021-2022 in line with pre-pandemic numbers

Fort Worth, Texas, December 12, 2022 — Alliance For Children, the children’s advocacy center serving all of Tarrant County, announces today that their annual numbers served have been published, including a total of 2,434 children served as first-time clients from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022. The organization conducted 1,847 forensic interviews, and 1,693 families received family advocate services, giving families the emergency needs, resources, and knowledge to navigate a complex legal system. Families were able to stabilize and focus on healing while experiencing less fear and uncertainty for their immediate future. 25,268 cases were reviewed by the Multidisciplinary Team Coordination Program and 10,394 of those were referred for coordination based on legal protocol.

Alliance For Children also conducts extensive trainings for children on how to stay safe from abuse and for adults on how to prevent abuse in their communities:

  • 29,548 children were taught personal body safety and how to recognize, resist, and report abuse or suspected abuse;
  • 25,218 children learned about Internet safety; and
  • 2,313 adults learned about child abuse prevention and how to recognize and react responsibly to child abuse in Tarrant County.

Studies show that for every one adult educated, 10 children are positively impacted.

The organization saw a decrease in child abuse reports during the COVID-19 pandemic due to children being away from schools, with an upswing in reports the year following as children went back to schools and spent more time around peers. Numbers this year have returned to pre-pandemic levels, showing that child abuse is still a prevalent issue and that every child’s well-being is vital.

Julie Evans, Alliance For Children’s chief executive officer, said, “These numbers represent a life that Alliance For Children has helped through a tough situation, but it’s our role to take care of the most vulnerable in our community. Because we have caring people and partnerships with schools, law enforcement agencies, local hospitals and the justice system, we are able to investigate the worst cases of child abuse, providing hope and healing to these families who are experiencing what may be the worst moment of their entire lives. We depend on community members to speak up when they see something suspicious and to spread the message of child abuse prevention. You can be the hero a child deserves, so if you see something, say something.”
